Clinic Owner

Meet Mario Starnino

Mario Starnino is an Athletic Therapist, Strength and Conditioning coach, and owner of the Activ Axion clinic located in the heart of Montreal’s West Island. He graduated from Concordia University in Montreal in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science: Specialization in Athletic Therapy. He has traveled the world to further his education with various manual therapy and training techniques such as P-DTR® (Proprioceptive – Deep Tendon Reflex), Institut Neuro Performance/Neuera (Functional Neurology and Posturology), NKT® (NeuroKinetic Therapy)Be Activated, VOILA®, AiM© (Anatomy in Motion), FRS® (Functional Range Systems) and Kilo Strength Society®.

A combination of concussion, functional neurology and vestibular seminars has enabled him to be more effective in concussion rehabilitation, while using different treatment modalities, including MPS (Micro Point Stimulation Therapy) and Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT) to help reduce inflammation and promote tissue healing.

Mario is dedicated to guiding and helping his patients, whether they are returning to a previous lifestyle or achieving a new personal goal. Taking a holistic approach to solving a problem leads to a better recovery than managing symptoms alone. It’s essential to educate the person about their pain, and to change certain lifestyle habits for the better.

“It’s not enough to know, you have to apply. It’s not enough to want, you have to do. Absorb what is useful, reject what is useless, add what is specific to you.”

– Bruce Lee

In his spare time…

When he’s not treating or training customers, Mario enjoys rollerblading, rock climbing, paddle boarding, playing field hockey, making kombucha, gardening, reading and working on various DIY projects.
