Mario Starnino

Mario Starnino is an Athletic Therapist, Strength and Conditioning Coach, and clinic owner of ActivAxion located at the heart of the West Island in Montreal. He graduated from Concordia University, Montreal in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science: Specialization Athletic Therapy. He has traveled the world to continue his education with different manual therapy and training techniques such as P-DTR® (Proprioceptive – Deep Tendon Reflex), Institut Neuro Performance/Neuera (Functional Neurology and Posturology), NKT® (NeuroKinetic Therapy), Be Activated, VOILA®, AiM© (Anatomy in Motion), FRS® (Functional Range Systems) and Kilo Strength Society®.

A combination of concussion, functional neurology, and vestibular seminars have allowed him to be more effective with concussion rehabilitation, while also using different treatment modalities including MPS (Micro Point Stimulation Therapy) and extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT) to help decrease inflammation and promote tissue healing.

Mario is dedicated to guiding and helping his patients, whether it’s returning to a previous lifestyle or achieving a new personal goal. Taking a global approach to resolving an injury leads to a better overall recovery and outcomes versus symptom management alone. Educating the person about their pain and lifestyle habits is one of the most important aspects.

“Knowing is not enough, we must apply. Willing is not enough, we must do. Absorb what is useful, reject what is useless, add what is specifically your own”

– Bruce Lee

In his personal time…

When he is not treating or training clients, Mario enjoys rollerblading, bouldering, paddle boarding, playing ball hockey, making kombucha, gardening, reading, and working on different DIY projects.

About Integrative Health Services in Montreal

Integrative health is a healthcare philosophy that emphasizes a holistic approach to well-being. It aims to combine the best of conventional medicine with complementary and alternative therapies to create a personalized treatment plan that addresses the physical, mental, emotional, and social aspects of a person's health. Here's a breakdown of key aspects of integrative health:

Focus on the Whole Person: Integrative health goes beyond treating just the symptoms of an illness. It considers a person's entire well-being, including their lifestyle, stress levels, and emotional state.

Collaboration: Integrative healthcare often involves a team approach, bringing together conventional medical doctors, nurses, therapists, and practitioners of complementary and alternative therapies (CAM) to work together for the patient's benefit.

Evidence-Based: While integrative health incorporates CAM therapies, it doesn't reject traditional medicine. It emphasizes using therapies that have shown some scientific evidence for their effectiveness.

Patient-Centered Care: Integrative healthcare puts the patient at the center of their care plan. Patients are involved in decision-making and can choose the therapies they feel comfortable with.
